The Groovy Waves Blanket Pattern!

Everything you need to know about the Groovy Waves Crochet pattern!

Finally, the Groovy Waves Blanket crochet pattern is here and it’s live!

It feels so good to be back to publishing patterns again and I’m so excited to share with you everything you need to know before you decide to buy the pattern and make one for yourself!

This blanket was first made about 8 months ago, I had so many projects on the go so I recruited my mum to help make/test my patterns for me. This blanket was one of those patterns that my mum made for me. She helped me edit and perfect the pattern while I focused on other projects.

However, after some issues at home, I had to postpone the release of the pattern until a better time came around.

In January this year (2024), I got this blanket out of storage and dug out all the notes my mum and I made and I decided to finally work on releasing it.

The pattern needed a little bit of work and I decided to make a second sample just to make sure the multiple sizes option did work as intended. Everything has gone smoothly, the second sample worked out perfectly and I am super happy with how the pattern looks (especially in my new format)!

Any time I look at this blanket, it immediately transports me to the beach! The colours stand out so much bolder because of the back loop stitches and the pattern makes itself when you use a self-striping yarn! The blanket has a loose tension to give it a flowy drape which perfectly matches with the flowy waves of the pattern.

This blanket can be made into 12 different sizes ranging from baby blankets to king sized bed spreads!

Here is all of the equipment and notes you’ll need to know before you purchase the pattern!

DIFFICULTY
This pattern is an Easy level crochet pattern. You will need to know how to make increases and decreases, and how to crochet into the back loop.

TERMINOLOGY
This pattern is written in US terminology.

YARN
The Groovy Waves blanket was created using LION BRAND MANDALA OMBRE yarn in the colour ways ‘Happy’ (seen above left) and ‘Mantra’ (seen above right).

The yarn used was a self-striping yarn which means the colour changes within the same ball of yarn. A self-striping yarn is not required.

This pattern requires any brand of weight 4 yarn (aka; worsted weight, aran weight, 10 ply).

EQUIPMENT
You will need a 5mm crochet hook (or hook to match the gauge/tension).
The only addition equipment you’ll need is a pair of scissors, a tape measure and a knitter’s/tapestry needle for sewing in ends.

SIZE
This pattern can be made in any size, from baby blankets to king size bed spreads. The length of each blanket size is easily adjustable by adding or deducting rows. Adjusting the size will change the amount of yarn needed.
